Overseas Study Scholarships |
A recipient of the Overseas Study Scholarship for Old Boys, Fletcher Wright (2009) is enrolled in the Social Innovation Fellows Program at Hamilton College, a private liberal arts college located in the U.S. state of New York. The program is designed to prepare and support students looking to use innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to address persistent social problems. This month, Fletcher will be graduating with Honors and will be the first Australian graduate from the college.
During his third year at Hamilton, Fletcher completed an in-depth comparative study on economic development, where he travelled to and undertook field research in Brazil, South Africa and Vietnam for the International Honors Program. Upon his return he interned for two consultancy firms in Washington, D.C., specialising in international development.
Fletcher recently accepted a job offer from IOS Partners who provide consulting services to donor agencies, government institutions and the private sector in developed and developing markets worldwide. In June, Fletcher will be moving to Washington, D.C. to take up the position in the international development field as Deputy Head of the Washington office (one of IOS' eight offices worldwide). There he will be leading Business Development and Project Management for Asian Development Bank focussing on poverty alleviation, institutional strengthening, and economic development projects. When Fletcher starts in this role, he will become the company's youngest entry into management.
